Manufacturing coloured bricks and bricks price in India

The demand for burnt clay bricks is increasing in Indian market because of its long-term durability and the charismatic vintage effect that adds an old-charm to any residential or commercial structures. Coloured bricks’ prices depend on the type of shade and process used to obtain it.

There are majorly three ways to obtain coloured bricks which are used by architects and interior designers:

• Natural colours: These shades depend on the type of clay used in the production process. Brown/Black colour can be obtained by regulating the oxidation condition in the kiln. Fire clays are usually a mix of greys and light buff shades. On-demand colours can be obtained by adding certain metals such as magnesium.
• Applied colours: Ceramic glazes are applied to clay bricks after the firing and cooling processes for structural glazed tile, wall and floor tile, or coloured clay bricks.
• Textures: These are obtained by regulating the manufacturing process. The process known as dry press produces smooth textures like terracotta. The process known as the stiff-mud helps in the manufacturing of the widely used antique texture brick. Colour also may be changed by the type of sand used.

Once the shade of the brick is finalized, the next important parameter to consider is the bricks price in India. Dimensions of the bricks required and quality of the clay plays a vital role to decide the price of one brick. The price of grade one type of bricks is usually higher than the overheated brick/ burnt out bricks due to their textures and more stability. Rates differ by small margins in different states depending on the transportation costs involved. In Haryana rate, generally, the price of brick is less than Rs 25 per brick but, it can differ depending on the type of brick, transport and region of the production.
